Creation Day 7 (Genesis 2:1-3)
God rests. This in no way indicates He was weary from His creative efforts, but denotes that the creation is complete. Further, God is establishing a pattern of one day in seven to rest. The keeping of this day will eventually be a distinguishing trait of the God’s chosen people (Exodus 20:8-11). 

(1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. 3 So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.)

 Black

Black is associated with power, elegance, formality, death, evil, and mystery.Black is a mysterious color associated with fear and the unknown (black holes). It usually has a negative connotation (blacklist, black humor, 'black death'). Black denotes strength and authority; it is considered to be a very formal, elegant, and prestigious color (black tie, black Mercedes). In heraldry, black is the symbol of grief.

Black gives the feeling of perspective and depth, but a black background diminishes readability. A black suit or dress can make you look thinner. When designing for a gallery of art or photography, you can use a black or gray background to make the other colors stand out. Black contrasts well with bright colors. Combined with red or orange – other very powerful colors – black gives a very aggressive color scheme.

THE FIRST CHAKRA:
Saturn represents "structures". Your skeleton is a structure that holds your body in place; it acts as a foundation. "Bones, foundations, security and structure" are all keywords for the 1ST Chakra. It represents the structures that you deal with in life in order to survive physically.

If you are not able to deal effectively with the outer social structures of your world, then you tend to live from paycheck-to-paycheck in a dog-eat-dog world. This seems to be a very common problem in our Western Culture because we have forgotten how to ground ourselves with the energies of the Earth. People who are "grounded" have a strong sense of who they are. They know how to acquire what they need in order to comfortably survive.

Nervousness and anxiety are conditions that result from not feeling grounded. Psychologically, it indicates that you are operating too much from your head - the ego. Take a deep breath, relax, and look around you. Are you safe where you are at? (1ST Chakra awareness puts you in the primal mode of "fight or flight".) If not, then you need to separate yourself from unsafe people and places. 1ST Chakra awareness is a serious energy that requires you to make some tough choices and decisions. Being "indecisive" and depending upon others to take care of you is a 1ST Chakra weakness. Please do not confuse security and your ability to live comfortably with "lots of money".

HOW TO STRENGTHEN THE 1ST CHAKRA: Establish healthy routines. Drink lots of "FRESH" water, eat healthy foods that are as natural as possible; eat, sleep, exercise, and work at regular times. For example, eating late at night and drinking alcohol or doing drugs disrupts your sleep patterns, which in turn disrupt your hormones, which interfere with your daily activities. You want to establish "stability" - not predictability, that's too boring. Frequent changes of address are also very de-stabilizing. Allow yourself to experience being in nature: go to a park and walk barefoot through the grass; visit an arboretum, or plant a garden - even if it is just one flower! Hiking in the mountains, or just being around large rocks and stones is very grounding. 

NOTICE THAT THE FIRST THREE CHAKRAS HAVE TO DEAL WITH "SELF-AWARENESS". IT IS VITALLY IMPORTANT TO HAVE THESE CHAKRAS IN BALANCE BEFORE MOVING ON TO THE HIGHER SPIRITUAL REALMS OF AWARENESS. 

Saturn: Planet Of Karma

Saturn doesn't make things easy. That's the role of the taskmaster of the zodiac. Saturn commands us to get to work and to work hard. Discipline and responsibility are important to this planet, yet if we're eager to conquer the world, that's okay, too.

Much like Father Time, Saturn implores us to look at the clock (its glyph, after all, is the sickle of Chronos, the God of Time). Is there time for everything we want to do, or are there limits? Those limitations are important to Saturn, and we must learn to manage them. Restrictions are the province of this planet, as is any form of discipline or delay.

In keeping with the passage of time, Saturn governs old age along with the lessons it teaches us. Learning life's lessons is key to this planet, in keeping with its role as teacher. The majesty of older age also brings with it a certain sense of tradition, conventionality (our learned patterns of behavior) and wisdom, and Saturn is mindful of these characteristics. This planet applauds our perseverance and the fact that we've withstood the test of time (yes, time comes up once again). This senior status further brings with it a measure of authority, and Saturn lords over that as well.

Structure, order and the way in which we conduct our affairs are all ruled by this ringed planet. Contraction and the reining in of assets are also important here. Lastly, Saturn, again in its role as teacher, concerns itself with karma and the lessons which past experiences might bring.

It takes Saturn 28-30 years to complete its orbit of the zodiac. It is masculine energy and rules both Capricorn and Aquarius, and the Tenth and Eleventh Houses.

A Prayer for Saturday

Creator of all that is seen and unseen, You stretched out the universe before us and called us to journey beyond the horizon of this moment.

Give us grace to remember what lies behind us: the men and women of good will whom we have been blessed to know, the precious faces of friends and family who taught us faith and fidelity, and those times when laughter lightened the load.

Refresh us often through the gift of memory that we may be steadied, assured and strengthened by the past.

Then call us from where we were to where You need us. Give us confidence to walk whatever path lies before us, knowing that as You touched us in the past, so You are in the future already reaching out to receive us in a love that will not let us go. Amen.
